Windows & Doors Configurator
OpenJanela is a leading ERP platform for window and door manufacturers, built on 34 years of industry experience — covering everything from quotation and CNC production to inventory and delivery. This project focuses on the product configurator, letting customers visually customize and price doors before purchase.
Year :
2021
Industry :
Manufacturing / ERP Software
Client :
OpenJanela
Project Duration :
4 Weeks

Problem :
Buying custom doors and windows traditionally requires back-and-forth with a sales rep just to understand sizing, layout, and material options — a slow process that creates friction for both manufacturers (manual quoting) and customers (uncertainty about what they're actually buying). Manufacturers needed a way to let customers self-configure products accurately, while ensuring every selection maps correctly to real production specs (dimensions, opening types, materials).

Solution :
I designed a step-by-step mobile configurator that guides users through door type selection (Entry Doors, with opening variations like OX+XO, XX, OXX+XXO), precise size input with visual dimension guides, layout options (Frame vs. Opening), and color/material selection — all with a live product preview updating at each step. A persistent bottom navigation lets users jump between configuration stages (door type, sizing, glass, hardware) without losing progress.

Challenge :
The core challenge was translating highly technical manufacturing specifications (exact width/height inputs, frame vs. opening configurations, CNC-relevant measurements) into an interface simple enough for non-technical retail customers to use confidently — without sacrificing the precision manufacturers need for accurate production and pricing.
Summary :
The OpenJanela configurator turns a traditionally rep-dependent, back-and-forth buying process into a self-service digital experience — giving customers confidence in their customization choices while ensuring every selection translates directly into accurate, production-ready specifications for manufacturers.
