Dating App
Typematch is a personality-driven dating app that helps users find matches based on compatibility beyond appearance — combining swipe-based discovery with detailed filtering by personality type, interests, and relationship intent.
Year :
2021
Industry :
Dating / Social Networking
Client :
TypeMatch
Project Duration :
3 weeks

Problem :
Most dating apps reduce matching to photos and a bio, leading to superficial connections and low-quality matches. Users interested in deeper compatibility (friendship, business networking, or serious relationships) had no way to filter for intent or personality alignment — resulting in mismatched expectations and app fatigue.

Solution :
I designed a discovery experience that layers personality type (e.g., MBTI badges like "INTJ") directly onto profile cards, alongside interest tags (Movies, Sports, Travel, Design). A robust filter system lets users define what they're looking for — Dating, Friendship, or Business — plus granular controls for distance, age range, and height, giving users control over match relevance from the first swipe.

Challenge :
The main challenge was balancing information density with visual simplicity: personality data, tags, and match criteria needed to feel informative without turning the discovery card into a cluttered profile page. I also had to design a filter panel complex enough to support multiple relationship intents without overwhelming first-time users during onboarding.
Summary :
Typematch reimagines swipe-based dating by prioritizing compatibility signals over surface-level browsing. The result is a clean, approachable interface that still gives users meaningful control — encouraging more intentional matches and reducing the noise of traditional swipe apps.
